Home Remedies for Moles:

Having moles can be an embarrassing and awkward situation especially for women. The following methods are natural, safe, cost affordable and effective.

1. Garlic:

Garlic contains certain enzymes that help to break down the cell clusters that cause moles. It also has an additional property of lightening the dark pigmentation in moles.

Ingredients:

  • Garlic clove – 1 to 3
  • Petroleum jelly or masking tape
  • Bandage

Process:

  • Apply petroleum jelly as a thin layer on the mole, alternative you can use masking tape, to avoid direct contact with the garlic and skin to avoid a burning sensation.
  • Crush the garlic clove to make a paste.
  • Apply to the mole and cover with a bandage.
  • Let it sit for 4 – 5 hours and then remove the bandage.
  • Remember to also remove the masking tape(if you use) to allow the skin to breathe.
  • Regularize this process daily once for 4 – 5 days.
  • It’s also best to disinfect the area with the rubbing alcohol or another disinfectant before starting the next application.
  • Note: Remove masking tape (if you use) at night time before going to bed.

2. Castor Oil and Baking Soda:

Castor oil acts as discutient (something that will cause dispersal of pathological accumulation), therefore is effective in removing moles. Additionally, baking soda exfoliates the skin, slowly clearing the mole, making it less likely to leave a scar.

Ingredients:

  • Castor oil
  • Baking soda
  • Small bowl

Process:

  • Put a pinch of baking soda in a bowl and a add sufficient amount of castor oil to it.
  • Stir it well to make a fine paste and apply to the affected part of the skin.
  • Leave it for few hours or leave it overnight.
  • Wash with water and pat the skin dry.
  • Regularize this application process daily until you completely get rid of the moles.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar:

This vinegar not only removes the moles but is also good for unsightly skin lesions like warts or skin tags, etc. It contains malic acid, tartaric acid and other acids that help to scab the moles and remove them from the skin.

Method – 1:

Ingredients:

Process:

  • Apply petroleum jelly all around the mole to protect your skin from the strong acidic effects of the vinegar.
  • Pour few drops of the vinegar on to the cotton ball.
  • Place the cotton ball on the mole.
  • Cover with a bandage and let it sit for couple of hours before removing the cotton.
  • Repeat 3 times a day for couple of weeks.

Method – 2:

Ingredients:

  • Warm water
  • Emery board
  • Apple cider vinegar

Process:

  • Use the water and emery board to lightly rub the mole.
  • Apply apple cider vinegar to the mole until it turns white.
  • Let it sit for few minutes so that it dries completely.
  • Follow this process several times a day to get rid of the moles.
  • Apply coconut oil to prevent scarring.

4. Dandelion Root:

Although there is not scientific proof that a dandelion will clear up moles, it’s milky and sticky resin has been known to remove moles on the skin when applied.

Process:

  • After washing dandelion root, cut one end.
  • Squeeze the root and collect the sap coming out of it.
  • Apply this sap on the mole.
  • Leave the sap on.
  • Repeat the same process for 2 – 3 times a day.

5. Sour Apple Juice:

Sour apple juice can dissolve a mole when applied regularly. It has acidic nature like apple cider vinegar but without the strong smell. However it will take a little longer to work.

Ingredients:

  • Sour apples – 2 to 3
  • Cotton ball
  • Bandage

Process:

  • Crush the sour apples to extract the juice and pour onto a cotton ball.
  • Place this on the mole.
  • Cover it with bandage and leave for a couple of hours.
  • Repeat the process 3 – 4 times a day.

6. Banana Peel:

Banana peel is good for removing the moles on the skin due to its anti-oxidant property. The anti-oxidants in peel will fight against the free radicals and protect your skin from pigmentation, thus removing the moles.

Note: The more unripe the banana, the better.

Ingredients:

  • Banana peel
  • Duct tape or adhesive bandage
  • Knife

Process:

  • Peel a banana and cut the peel into small pieces.
  • Place the banana peel on the mole, make sure that inside part of the peel should touch the mole .
  • Cover this with tape or bandage and leave overnight.
  • Repeat every night.

7. Onion Juice:

Onions exhibit the same properties as garlic. They have entzymes that effectively removes moles and makes skin glow naturally. It also has acidic properties that help to maintain the skin tone evenly by lightening the moles.

Method – 1:

Ingredients:

  • Onions – 2
  • Cotton ball

Process:

  • Place the onions in a blender to get a juice.
  • Soak a cotton ball in the juice and apply to the mole.
  • Let it sit for about 30 – 40 minutes and wash with water.
  • Continue doing this process 3 – 4 times a day for 3-4 weeks.

Method – 2:

Ingredients:

  • Onion juice
  • Apple cider vinegar

Process:

  • Take equal parts onion juice and apple cider vinegar.
  • Stir well and apply to the mole.
  • Let it sit for few hours or if possible for overnight.
  • Apply daily for a month.

Method – 3:

Ingredients:

  • Onion juice or grated onion
  • Salt
  • Water

Process:

  • Blend an onion to extract the juice, and mix this with salt.
  • Apply to the mole and leave it for 2 – 3 hours.
  • Rinse with water..
  • Repeat this process for a couple of weeks.

8. Pineapple Juice:

Pineapple contains enzymes and citric acid that works to lighten the pigmentation that creates moles.

Note: Always use fresh pineapple.

Method – 1:

Ingredients:

  • Pineapple juice
  • Cotton ball
  • Adhesive bandage or tape

Process:

  • Soak a cotton ball in pineapple juice.
  • Place on the mole and cover with any bandage or tape.
  • Leave it on for few hours and then remove the ball.
  • Repeat 2-3 times a day.
  • Or You can apply fres pineapple juice using a cotton ball andlLeave on over night before washing with water.

Method – 2:

Ingredients:

  • Pineapple
  • Knife
  • Adhesive bandage

Process:

  • Cut the pineapple into the shape of the mole.
  • Place on the mole and secure with an adhesive bandage.
  • Leave it for few hours and then replace with a fresh piece.
  • Continue until you have removed the mole.

Method – 3:

Ingredients:

  • Fresh pineapple juice – 1/2 cup
  • Coarse sea salt – 1/4 cup

Process:

  • Mix pineapple juice and coarse sea salt to make a scrub mixture.
  • Scrub the mole gently for few minutes.
  • This process helps to remove the top layer of the moles’ skin, along with any other dust.
  • Regular scrubbing helps to clear the moles and makes your skin glow naturally.

9. Coriander:

Coriander herb is not only used to make food tasty but can also help to removes the moles! It is a safe, effective and inexpensive process.

Ingredients:

  • Coriander leaves
  • Water
  • Bandage or cloth

Process:

  • Crush fresh coriander leaves to make a paste.
  • Apply to the affected area of the skin.
  • Hold on for about 30 – 35 minutes by covering with a bandage or cloth.
  • Repeat regularly for about 2 – 3 weeks daily.

10. Flaxseed Oil:

Flaxseeds have various healing elements, including Omega oil. It helps to protect the cell membranes by accepting only the healthy substances and barring the damaged ones.

Ingredients:

  • Flaxseed powder – 1 tablespoon
  • Honey – 1 teaspoon
  • Flax oil

Process:

  • Mix flaxseed powder and honey in a bowl.
  • Add enough flax oil to make a paste.
  • Apply this paste to the moles and leave for few minutes.
  • Repeat 3 times a day.

11. Iodine:

Iodine is a good remedy in treating moles, as it triggers natural cell death and eliminates the clusters. When you apply to the mole, it will penetrate into the cells and remove the mole completely. For this process, buy 5% iodine solution from any medical stores.

Ingredients:

  • Iodine (5%) solution
  • Gauze or bandage
  • Petroleum jelly or masking tape

Process:

  • Clean the affected area and apply petroleum jelly to the skin around the mole. This prevent the skin from staining.
  • Apply a drop of iodine tincture on your mole and cover with a bandage.
  • Leave for several hours or over-night.
  • Repeat this process daily for few weeks.
  • Note: This process could cause a burning sensation.

12. Aloe Vera:

Aloe vera gel works well in removing the mole completely. When applied on moles it will first lighten up the moles with its acidic property, before working to remove it.

Ingredients:

  • Aloe vera
  • Cotton bandage

Process:

  • Extract aloe vera gel from an aloe vera leaf.
  • Apply this gel to the affected area and cover with a bandage.
  • Let it sit for about 3 – 4 hours so that the aloe vera is completely absorbed.
  • Repeat 2-3 times a day for about a month.

13. Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE):

Grapefruit exhibits an alkaline nature as well as containing many vitamins, minerals, flavonoids, citric acids and their salts which will help to eliminate a mole.

Method – 1:

Ingredients:

  • Grapefruit seed extract – 1 drop
  • Bandage or gauze
  • Adhesive tape

Process:

  • Apply the GSE to the mole.
  • Cover it with a bandage and secure this with adhesive tape.
  • Leave it on for several hours.
  • Repeating this process 2 – 3 times a day for 3 – 5 weeks.

Method – 2:

Ingredients:

  • Grapefruit seed extract – 1 part (1 tablespoon)
  • Avocado oil – 10 parts (10 tablespoon)

Process:

  • Mix GSE and avocado oil in a bowl.
  • Apply to the mole using cotton ball.
  • Let it sit for about 15 – 30 minutes and then rinse with water.
  • Reapply this mixture for 2 – 3 times a day.
  • Alternatively, grapefruit pulp can be used.

14. Frankincense Oil:

Frankincense essential oil is a holy oil that is widely used by the Egyptians. It is astringent in nature, therefore helps to dry up a mole, removing it layer by layer. It contains phenols, sesquiterpenes and monoterpenes that helps cells to work properly by correcting their DNA levels. As moles are formed due to incorrect accumulation of cells, it is a very effective method.

Ingredients:

  • Frankincense essential oil – 1 teaspoon
  • Olive oil – 8 teaspoon

Process:

  • Dilute the frankincense with olive oil and dab on the mole.
  • Repeat this 2 – 3 times a day for a few weeks.

15. Radish:

Radish contains detoxifiers and is rich in vitamin C, folic and anthocyanins which help to remove moles. They are high in anti-oxidants and also contain isthiocyanates which eliminates the cancerous cells.

Method – 1:

  • Cut the radish into fine slices.
  • Place these slices on the mole.
  • Leave on for a few minutes.
  • Repeat this process regularly.

Method – 2:

  • Grate a radish and apply to the mole.
  • Leave for few minutes before washing with water.
  • Pat dry and repeat this two times a day.
  • Alternatively grind the radish to get a paste and apply this 2 – 3 times a day.

16. Chickweed:

Chickweed contains many vitamins, flavonoids, omega and linolenic acid that help to reduce inflammation and lightens the pigmentation of moles. It is available in both powder and liquid forms at any local health stores.

Ingredients:

  • Chickweed powder
  • Cotton ball
  • Bandage

Process:

  • Place chickweed on a cotton ball. If using powder, add water to turn into a paste.
  • Apply the cotton ball the the affected area.
  • Cover with a bandage and leave for a few hours.
  • Repeat regularly.

17. Oregano Oil:

Oregano is an essential oil that has anti-bacterial, anti-septic, anti-fungal, anti-parasitic, anti-inflammatory and anti-viral properties that help to boost up the immune system and clears skin infections. It is very strong so be sure to dilute before use.

Ingredients:

  • Oregano oil – 1 teaspoon
  • Almond oil – 8 teaspoon

Process:

  • Take both the oils and mix thoroughly.
  • Apply the the mole.
  • Repeat daily.

18. Tea Tree Oil:

Tea tree oil is a natural essential oil that helps to treat the wounds and infections on the skin. It also contains antiseptic, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties that helps to clear moles.

Note: This may not work on everyone and can cause allergic reactions.

Ingredients:

  • Tea tree oil
  • Cotton ball

Process:

  • Pour few drops of the oil onto a cotton ball.
  • Dab this cotton ball on the mole.
  • Leave for few hours and then wash with water.
  • Repeat 3 times a day.
  • Note: Apply the tea oil with any carrier oil or water to get rid of any irritation caused.

19. Pomegranate:

Pomegranate peel is used to treat the moles as it contains a high amount of bioactive compounds and anti-oxidant properties that help to remove the top layers of the mole’s skin. It additionally contains flavonoids, ascorbic acid, phenolics and proathocyanidins that effective removes the moles.

Ingredients:

  • Pomegranate peel
  • Lemon juice

Process:

  • Peel a pomegranate and allow the peel to dry completely.
  • Grind the peel into a powder.
  • Add lemon juice to get a fine paste.
  • Apply this paste on the mole and leave for an hour or two.
  • Rinse it off the paste and pat the skin dry.
  • Repeat this application daily.

20. Cashew Nuts:

Cashew nuts have anti-viral and anti-fungal properties that help to painlessly remove warts and moles.

Ingredients:

  • Crushed cashew nuts – 1/2 bowl
  • Water

Process:

  • Add water to the cashew nuts and mix to form a paste.
  • Apply to the moles and leave for few minutes .
  • Wash with water.
  • Repeat the process regularly.

21. Fig Stem Juice:

Applying fig stem juice has been used for centuries to remove moles. The milky sap can work wonders with these abnormal skin lesions, even though the extract reason for its effectiveness is unknown.

Ingredients:

  • Fig stem
  • Knife

Process:

  • Cut the end of the stem and squeeze to extract the juice.
  • Apply the juice directly to the moles and leave for few hours.
  • Repeat once a day.
  • Note: The area may feel itchy or irritated but make sure not to touch it.

22. Limit Sun Exposure:

Avoid over exposing your body to direct sunlight, especially between 10 am to 4 pm, as the UV rays are most intense. This can stimulate the melanin production which leads to moles. Apply a high sun block lotion that has at least SPF 15, at least 30 minutes before stepping out into the sun and reapply ever 2 hours.

Tips to Prevent the Moles:

Following these simple tips to help get rid of those annoying moles.

  • Remember that the remedies like garlic, apple cider vinegar, etc. will cause some burning sensation when applied directly, so you must apply either petroleum jelly or adhesive tape to protect the skin.
  • Those who have sensitive skin will have to take some extra precautions.
  • Always consult your doctor before following these remedies and follow your dermatologist’s advice if there is no change in the shape or color or texture, as the mole could be cancerous.
  • If a mole has symptoms like bleeding, oozing, itching or if the mole become tender or painful, then don’t attempts to treat these moles on your own without consulting your doctor or health care provider, as they could be cancerous.
  • Sliced potatoes on the effected area can also be effective.
  • Avoid surgical methods at home as this can be dangerous.
  • Never ever pick or scratch at your mole.
  • Regular application of evening primrose oil will help to stop the growth of the mole.
  • These remedies do not help everyone, so try to find the one that is right for you.
  • Apply a potassium, walnut, honey or strawberry related remedy to clear the mole, as these are also effective.
  • Mole removal creams can be effective but may cause scarring.
  • Regular intake of acidic fruit juices like green apple, pineapple, grapefruit, oranges and figs can be used, but the mole will have to be scratched first.
  • Regular exfoliation can help remove moles.
  • Drinking more water and having a balanced diet provides proper functioning of the overall body and prevents the over production of melanocytes.

  1. Hi i had also moles on my face after read your article i applied garlic on it and mine face have big ugly black scars which is not getting well mine face looking ugly plz suggest me for clean these ugly scars

    1. You can apply lemon juice, aloe vera juice, potato juice or tomato juice to reduce the appearance of black scars. Leave any application for 15 minutes and rinse off with water. Repeat the process daily.

    1. If sour apple juice is not working for you then try using garlic or castor oil or apple cider vinegar. The method that works for me may not work for you and vice versa. So try different remedies to know which one works for you.

    1. We recommend getting them checked by a dermatologist. If they are caused by excess melanin production then you can try any remedy mentioned above.

    1. Yes, it is possible. Try any remedy mentioned above in the article. If the mole is oozing any pus or bleeding the avoid using this methods and consult a doctor.

    1. Try applying aloe vera gel on the scar and leave it to dry completely. Repeat the application 3 – 4 times in a day until you notice the results.

  8. I tried using iodine on my face for a few days. My moles got bigger and darker and they look horrible. What could I do now?

    1. We hope you have use 5% iodine solution for the application. If you have used higher percentage, then it might be the reason for bigger moles. Stop using iodine further and apply castor oil on the moles regularly 1 – 2 times in a day. Leave the application to dry completely and don’t rinse off. Castor oil helps to lighten the moles and repair the damage caused by iodine application.

    1. We usually recommend freshly extracted aloe veral gel as it is very effective. However if you have then you can use bottled ones as an alternative. Yes, even if the mole is flat you can use aloe vera to remove it.

    1. We recommend getting a physical examination of the mole from a doctor. If he confirm it is a normal mole then you can try any process mentioned above as per your preference.

  13. I tried the garlic method for 4 days on a mole but it grew thicker (bulged out more). What should I do? Should I continue?

    1. Usually, it happens before the mole gets lightened so don’t worry. Apply garlic for another 2 – 3 days, the bulging will reduce. If it hasn’t reduced, then apply some aloe vera gel and consult a dermatologist.
