Pimples: What Causes them and How

Pimples are hard, red and swollen outgrowths of the skin formed due to the excess secretion and accumulation of protective sebum. Lack of cleaning tends to block the skin pores, thereby allowing the sebaceous secretion to accumulate within the pores. These secretions harbour life for bacteria like the Propionibacterium acnes, leading to irritation of the skin and painful swellings.

Benefits of Turmeric for Skin

An apparently innocuous spice found in everyday cooking, turmeric has properties more diverse than can be conceived. Turmeric contains substances that exterminate the Propionibacterium acnes thus rendering the skin smooth and youthful.

  • The main component of turmeric is curcumin. Curcumin is a substance that is manifold times more intense than azelac acid.
  • Besides being anti-bacterial, it is anti-fungal and anti-viral.
  • Curcumin is anti-inflammatory. That is to say, it works well in reducing the swellings caused by pimples.
  • Regular application of turmeric ensures a healthy skin and a radiant complexion.
