Home Remedies For Dry Cough

1. Turmeric

Process 1:

  • Mix 1 tablespoon of turmeric powder with 1 teaspoon of honey to make a paste.
  • Consume this 4 times a day.
  • Consume regularly to get relief from the dry cough.

Process 2:

  • Boil 4 cups of water and add 1 tablespoon of turmeric powder.
  • Stir well and steep for few minutes.
  • Stir in lemon juice and honey.
  • Drink this tea regularly to cure dry cough.

2. Honey

Process:

  • Mix teaspoon of honey in a glass of warm water.

3. Gelatin

Process:

  • Heat a glass of water.
  • Stir in 5-10 grams donkey hide gelatin.

Process:

  • Boil a cup of water, and then stir in 2-3 grams of dried marshmallow leaves.
  • Let steep for 10 minutes.
  • Strain and drink.
  • Drink 3 cups of marshmallow tea every day.

6. Slippery Elm

Slippery elm, made from the bark of the slippery elm tree, contains a gel-like substance which coats the throat and minimizes coughing.

Process:

  • Stir in 1 tablespoon of powdered slippery elm bark in a cup of warm water..
  • Mix well and steep for 10 minutes.
  • Drink this warm tea to get relief from throat irritation and dry cough.
  • Also try slippery elm bark lozenges to moist throat by increasing saliva.

7. Steam

Steam reduces irritation by moisturizing your throat and nasal passages.

Process:

  • Boil water.
  • Drape a towel over your head and lean over the pot.

  • Pour the mixture into a sauce pan and heat to a sauce-like consistency.

14. Ginger and Basil

Basil is a natural pain reliever, and ginger helps to soothe the throat and fight the germs that cause dry cough.

Process:

  • Take 2 teaspoons of chopped ginger root and 4 fresh basil leaves in a tea mug.
  • Pour a cup of boiling water and let steep for 10 minutes.

15. Sea Salt Gargle

Process:

Other Tips to Prevent and Treat Dry Cough

  • Elevate your head while sleeping while sleeping. It helps to reduce dry cough.
  • Drink plenty of fluids, especially water and organic fruit and vegetable juices.
  • Use a humidifier to add moisture to dry air.
  • Take vitamins A and C to support your immune system and prevent dry cough.
  • Eat grapes or drink grape juice with a tablespoon of honey.
  • Eat slices of ginger sprinkled with sea salt.
  • Soak 10 almonds in the night and remove skin next day morning. Grind them and add 20 grams each of sugar and butter 2 times a day.
  • Carrot contains nutrients and vitamins which give relief from dry cough. Eat carrots ot drink carrot juice 4 to 5 times a day.
  • Mix equal parts of apple cider vinegar and honey and take 2 tablespoons before going to bed.
  • Drink herbal teas regularly to sooth throat.
  • Eat garlic regularly.

  1. I have had a sore throat and dry cough for 10days now I have taken cough mixture honey Strepcils eaten oranges plenty of fluids etc what can I do now

    1. Honey can provide relief from both sore throat and dry cough. It coats the oesophagus to reduce the dry cough and sore throat. It soothes the mucus membranes, glands present in the throat. Its antibacterial properties deal with the bacteria causing the problems.
